Pitchford growers are not your average, “no worries” type people. Careful scrutiny
goes into every item of produce headed to market with date picked, temperature,
and standards of vegetable closely monitored.
Not only does the produce get careful attention, but Pitchfords are relentless in
water efficient practices. Great care is given to sustainable agriculture with a
rotation programme of Brassica vegetables, non Brassica vegetables and a green manure
crop to ensure soil health . An integrated pest management programme is also adopted
which protects the beneficial insects and controls the pests and has a low withholding
period. Also about 20 ha of native scrub land has been set aside to enhance the
sustainability of the property.
Pitchford Produce has achieved HACCP and Freshcare quality accreditation and recently was awarded Platinum Level EnviroVeg accreditation.
